Three Types of Creatives

“There are three types of creatives. You may be a light version or a more extreme version of one of these. You may find that you are a combination. Creative coaching can help you grow out of one type into another. But no matter where you are on the journey, don’t judge it. We all have a journey we must take to find our happiest, most authentic life. Coaching will help you on that journey.” -Caroline

Type One: The Shrinking Creative

This is the artist who hasn’t yet stepped into her creative voice, and maybe still isn’t sure if she has one. She may have tried many paths, but she has found everything unfulfilling. She knows what she wants deep inside, but not how to get there. She isn’t sure if she has what it takes to get there at all.

“This type needs to connect with their confidence and worthiness. Business coaching and a network of artists in the same field on the same journey can help. Good coaching can help you find your courage and your unique voice. “ -Caroline

Type Two: The Burned Out Professional

This is the artist who, having people recognize his talents early on, ran at the first thing he was good at. He quickly found success and made his talent a business or at least a success in the eyes of his peers. While he enjoys the praise and accolades he receives, the high never lasts long. Each success leaves him hungry for more. He never feels like he “arrives.” Any criticism he may receive feels like death. He pushes himself harder and harder to please his audience, until he feels like he’s lost both himself and his love for his craft.

“This type needs a reset: reconnection with themselves, healing from past hurts, freedom to play and experiment, and lots of self-compassion and grace. Good coaching can help you find all these things.” -Caroline

Type 3: The Thriving Artist:

This artist knows her strengths and weaknesses but doesn’t over-identify with either. She loves her craft and is constantly growing and going deeper. She is unafraid to be seen or put on display. She is unashamed to ask that her work be fairly compensated. She retains balance in her life by holding onto good boundaries despite the pull on her for more work. While she may at times create for a consumer, she also makes time to create for herself. Most days, she does not feel burned out or disconnected. She has a vibrant life outside of her work as well. She makes room for life-giving relationships, a healthy body and mind, and creative hobbies unrelated to her work. She is (on most days) thriving, authentic, and peaceful.

“If this isn’t you. I want to help you get there!” -Caroline
